2013 Racing is around the corner.

It is hard to believe with all the snow still on the ground, but according to the astronomical calendar, spring will be here on March 20th. The coming of spring will quickly be followed by Blackhawk Farms first motorsports event of 2013.

During the off-season, more changes have been made to the track and facilities. As you may remember, mid-season repairs were required to a few places last season, and we are happy to report that the repair has held without any further surface deterioration. Additional repairs to the shoulders on the outside of turns 4 and 6 have also been implemented to help redefine the racing surface and to provide a safer periferal area.

After successive seasons of improving the facilities buildings on the infield, this winter we turned our attention to the entrance of the track. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by an overhauled registration building. We also have retired the old gate shack, with a new gate house being installed just before the track opens in April. Both projects have been designed to help ease the process of registration for quicker entry into the track.

Darleen and staff also will be returning for 2013 at the Cafe Fastee, bringing you more of the fabulous food and specials we have all come to love.

On-line registration for BFR auto and motorcycle track days has also been added to our PitStop online store. Please make sure to follow the instructions through the registration process.

Everyone at the track is excited to start the 2013 season, and we look forward to seeing all of you this year at Blackhawk Farms Raceway!

Fall sets in at BFR

Another year of great racing is quickly coming to a close. Sanctioned events officially cease for 2012 at the close of the day on October 31st. Thanks again to all who participated, worked, volunteered, and spectated at our racing facility this year, and we look forward to another great year in 2013!

Road Racing World Action Fund Benefit

Blackhawk Farm Raceway announces the 1st annual Broken Wing Benefit to be held on Sat. Sept. 1^st, from 6:00 – 10:00 pm. This special evening event, held in conjunction with the JOS Motorsports Motorcycle Track Day, is offering a variety of activities for all motorcycle enthusiasts. Activities include: sponsored giveaways, a wing eating contest; a wing cook off contest, silent auction, live music, great food, combined with fellowship among others in the racing community. The event will take place in the new Blackhawk Farms Raceway Pavilion, and is open to everyone after the day of track activities have been completed.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Road Racing World Action Fund, a program designed to promote motorcycle safety through the donation and installation of “Airfence” technology to road racing facilities. Winners of both the wing eating and the wing cook off contests will receive passes for an entire season of racing at Blackhawk Farms Raceway including Motovid.com All Levels Motorcycle Track Days events and the JOS Motorsports Motorcycle Track Day Series. Photos from each track day will be provided by Zone Photo. That’s a total of ten All Levels Motorcycle Track Day events and two JOS Motorsports Motorcycle Track Day Series weekends… a prize worth well over $2,500.00! The winner of the wing cook off contest will also be crowned the 2012 BFR Wing Master and will have his or her recipe featured at BFR’s Café Fastee on special events for the 2013 season!

Repairs to Corners 1 and 7

At the end of last year Blackhawk Farms performed track repairs to corners 1 and 7 as they were showing signs of deterioration. Unfortunately these repairs did not hold as well as we had hoped. Track repair has started this morning to address these issues and restore the track to optimal racing conditions. BFR would like to thank all racers for their patience while we work through these issues!

20th Annual Blackhawk Vintage Classic

Come out to Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL on June 15th through the 17th for the 20th annual Blackhawk Vintage Classic. The Blackhawk Vintage Classic features vintage sports car racing, vintage airplane display and fly-in, food, and fun for the whole family.

2012 Tirewall Day

Blackhawk Farms 2012 firewall day was a huge success, with enough volunteers participating to complete all the track work in about an hour, leaving lots of open track time. Celebrate Fathers Day at the Blackhawk Vintage Classic!

Celebrate father’s day at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. Since 1994, the BLACKHAWK VINTAGE CLASSIC has provided race fans of all ages the thrill and excitement of pre-war car racing in combination with a vintage car show and vintage aircraft that fly-in for display.

Proceeds from the gate benefit the Tebala Shriner’s Transportation fund. Throughout the years, the event has donated thousands of dollars to the fund.

Don’t miss your opportunity this father’s day to come out to the track and watch some vintage racing with your dad… after all, these cars may not be around too much longer- they are vintage!!
