Track Day 2
8/13/08

Track Day Ground Rules

Absolutely Mandatory, No Exceptions for Anyone, Throw Your Butt Out type rules:

Everyone entering the track grounds must sign the waiver.  Minors (under 18) must be signed for by a parent or guardian.  You must wear the provided wrist ID band at all times while you are at the track and show it to the pit or grid marshall before you go onto the track.

No one who has consumed any alcoholic beverages on the day of the event may go onto the track.    No illegal drugs on the track premises at any time.

No one may drive counter-race or back up on the track or in the pit lane for any reason, without specific permission from the Chief Steward.

The Chief Steward of the event is the ultimate authority over all on-track activities.

Other rules and regulations:

Drivers must have attended the Ground School or have other acceptable high speed driving experience before going on a hot track.  (Low speed touring sessions are not hot track events.)

Drivers must know and obey the conventional sports car racing flags and hand signals discussed at the Ground School.

Complete car control is required at all times.  Anyone driving in a reckless manner or driving over their head will be warned once, and then may be barred from further participation.

Any driver spinning on or off the track, or going 4-wheels off the pavement out of control, will report to the Chief Steward for an automatic black flag penalty.

This is not a race event.  There is to be no side-by-side or nose-to-tail dicing at any time.

Passing is allowed only on the turns 7-1 and silo-kink straights.  There is no passing anywhere else on the course.  Watch your mirrors and cooperate with the passer, pointing to the side you wish them to pass on.  Passes must be completed between the double cones.

Drivers and instructors must wear approved, proper fitting, securely attached helmets any time they are on a hot track, including pace and cool-off laps.  Open cars must have helmet shields or goggles (glasses or sunglasses do not suffice.).

Drivers must wear long pants, long sleeved shirts and solid shoes, preferably of natural materials, while on a hot track. Driver suits, socks, shoes and gloves of flame resistant materials are highly recommended.

No passengers, except approved instructors, are allowed on a hot track.

Only the driver registered to a given vehicle may drive it on a hot track.  You may not try out another person’s car.

Children must be under the direct supervision and control of an adult at all times. Pets must be humanely leashed or enclosed at all times.  Drivers are responsible for the actions of their children, pets, crew and guests at all times.

Paddock speed limit: 15 MPH or reasonable and proper, whichever is lower.
